| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Assessment Task 1: Research Place and Context | Task Description: | This task focuses on developing the necessary foundational primary and secondary skills that underly the identification and application of experiential principles.
You will engage with a specific place (site, space or environment) that has been identified as being disengaged from the local community. Through individual and group place-based research (primary) coupled with related precedents and/or existing case studies (secondary) you will present an introductory creative brief as the basis to understand and explore a range of experiential principles.
Based on frameworks explored during class, your brief will include an initial place and context analysis, associated supporting research and recommendations, and strategies that could be deployed to improve experience/s. | Task Length: | 500 words and illustrations (including images, graphs and other evidence) | Due Date: | Week 4 | Weight: | 20 % | | | CRITERION # | CRITERION | MEASURES INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOME(S) | | | | 1 | Evidence of research and knowledge of foundational experiential principles and application to creative-brief development | LO1, LO2 | 2 | Evidence of critical engagement with chosen site/s and reasoned justification relating to problem identification | LO2, LO3, LO4 | 3 | Evidence of insight and research into experiential examples and clarity of communicating through a creative brief | LO1, LO4 |

| | | Assessment Task 2: Concept: Observe and Develop | Task Description: | Building on the initial research and scoping exercise from Assessment Task 1, you will deepen your understanding of experiential principles through individual and group observational and concept development.
Based on frameworks explored during class, you will engage deeply by mapping your individual experience of place through observational exercises. Combined with initial research, this exercise establishes the structural support from which to develop a considered conceptual and/or creative direction. | Task Length: | 5-minute presentation (500 words and illustrations including images, graphs and other evidence) | Due Date: | Week 7 | Weight: | 30 % | | |
