Attendance / engagement expectations
If your unit is offered On campus, it is expected that you will attend all on-campus and onsite learning activities. This is to support your own learning and the development of a learning community within the unit. If you are unable to attend regularly, please discuss the situation with your course coordinator and/or our UConnect support team.
If your unit is offered Online or includes online activities, it is expected you will engage in all those activities as indicated in the Unit Outline or MyLO, including any self-directed learning.
If you miss a learning activity for a legitimate reason (e.g., illness, carer responsibilities) teaching staff will attempt to provide alternative activities (e.g., make up readings) where it is possible.
For on-campus students, you are expected to attend and actively participate in all on-campus and onsite learning activities. These activities are designed to support your learning, professional skill development, and the development of a collaborative learning community within the unit. If you are unable to attend regularly, please discuss your situation with the Unit Coordinator and/or the UConnect support team as early as possible.
For online stduents, you are expected to engage with all online learning materials and activities as outlined in the Unit Outline and MyLO, including any self-directed learning tasks. Attendance and participation in the fortnightly workshops is a mandatory requirement in this unit, as these workshops are directly linked to a Lane 1 assurance of learning assessment task worth 30% of the final unit mark. The workshops involve collaborative activities, development of assessment outputs, and professional skill-building that cannot be fully replicated through independent/asynchronous study alone.
If you miss a learning activity for a legitimate reason (e.g. illness, carer responsibilities, cultural obligations), teaching staff will attempt to provide reasonable alternative activities or catch-up materials where possible. Students are also expected to communicate absences professionally and engage with any alternative tasks provided in a timely manner.
Students participating online are expected to have access to a reliable internet connection, a working microphone, and a web camera for workshops, viva voce activities, and the recording of presentations. These requirements support effective communication, participation, teamwork, and professional engagement within the unit.
