Task Description: | Task design is a key aspect of teaching in shaping materials, examples and questions that will support learning. Task design becomes even more critical when we are catering for a student with a specific learning need. Many educators are now turning to Generative AI tools to support the design of tasks. In Assessment Task 3, you will use Copilot to generate a task (not a lesson plan) for Tier 3 intensive support for a student with a specific individual need such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, EAL/D or a task for a student who is gifted. You will then critically evaluate your prompts and the AI generated output in terms of the pedagogical appropriateness of the task to the specific need and the content description. Guidance and examples of how to use prompts to AI generate a mathematics task will be provided in the unit content.
Generating the AI output: • The initial prompt: “Generate a task for (chosen year) that aligns with (AC v.9 content description) for a student with (specific need)” • Prompt further (at least twice) to refine and adjust the generated task to more appropriately meet the needs of the student and align with the content description. Your submission must include: • The specific need, year group and the AC v.9.0 content description. • The AI generated output with your prompts clearly highlighted. (Not included in the word count). • Your written critique (word count included) should represent your professional judgement of the suitability of the task generated by the AI tool to support a student with the specific need. Your critique should include: o Accuracy of the alignment with AC v.9 content description
o Analysis of the efficacy and limitations of the task generated by the AI tool in relation to the specific need of the student (including the example problem(s), materials, representations, language, and questions or prompts) o Appropriateness of the task for Tier 3 intensive support o Analysis of the effectiveness of your prompts in adapting and refining the AI generated task o Literature (and/or reference to MyLO content) to support your analysis of the output and your adaptive prompts in relation to the specific need and the mathematical content for the chosen year group. Your submission should be one word document including the above points. You should refer to literature to support your critique. Completion of this Assessment Task relates to Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) 1.1, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.4, 4.1 |
