| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Assessment Task 1: Portfolio | Task Description: | Portfolio of work from workshops. Throughout the unit, you will be reflecting upon your learning. After each workshop, you will respond to the following questions on a discussion board: 1. Explain a theoretical concept, technique or ethical issue involved in the workshop topics, with reference to at least one related reading; 2. Identify a dispute related factor in a hypothetical scenario or role play activity, and explain how that factor affected the suitability of, or techniques appropriate in, the dispute resolution process;
3. Identify something you learnt about yourself through a learning activity (for example, your skills, tendencies, or professional identity) and explain how you will apply that learning in the future; and 4. Reflect upon your experience of working with others, giving feedback, and/or problem solving with your peers. These reflections will be made within 24 hours of each workshop. You will review your reflections twice during the intensive and prepare a short synthesis. This could be a selection or an overall 'meta-reflection' combining two or more individual reflections. Each synthesis can either be a 500 word written piece or a 3 minute video. It will be submitted to the relevant assignment DropBox on MyLO. The two syntheses will be graded and marking criteria carry equal weight. Feedback will be provided about the first synthesis to support improvement for the second.
The first of the two reflective syntheses will synthesise reflections from Workshops 1, 2, 3, and/or 4. This will be due during Week 2 of the intensive, after workshop 4. The second of the two reflective syntheses will synthesise reflections from Workshops 5, 6 and/or 7. This will be due during Week 3 of the intensive, after workshop 5.
The first synthesis is due on Wednesday 10th July. The second synthesis is due on Wednesday 17th July. | Task Length: | 2 x 500 words or 3 minutes (25% each) | Due Date: | Refer to Assessment Description (10/Jul/2024) | Weight: | 50 % | | CRITERION # | CRITERION | MEASURES INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOME(S) | | | | 1 | Identify, explain, justify or critique the theory, techniques and/or ethical issues involved. | LO1, LO4 | 2 | Apply knowledge to the facts to diagnose dispute resolution needs. | LO3 | 3 | Self-reflect critically upon learning and participation. | LO2, LO5 | 4 | Communicate and collaborate effectively | LO5 |

| | Assessment Task 2: Research Paper | Task Description: | You will conduct your own preliminary research to identify a research topic that responds to the question posed on MyLO.
There are three items that you will produce from your research assignment: 1. Topic proposal – a template will be provided in MyLO. Due Week 1 of the intensive.
2. Research Essay of 3000 words. Due at the end of the intensive. 3. Either a blog post of 300-500 words or a 3 minute vlog post. This item should present your “elevator pitch” of your research assignment to a general audience. Due at the end of the intensive. Feedback will be provided about the topic proposal. Both the research essay and blog or vlog post will be graded, and the grade standard will be assessed against both items combined. Supporting resources and assessment rubrics containing standards descriptors are on MyLO. Criteria are weighted equally. | Task Length: | 3000 words plus 500 words or 3 minutes | Due Date: | Refer to Assessment Description (21/Jul/2024) | Weight: | 50 % | |
