| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Assessment Task 1: Design and Optimisation of a Timber Structure - PART 1 | Task Description: | In this project, you will be required to design and optimise the members of a residential timber structure and their connections, nominally the roof and wall framing including roof sheeting, battens, ridges, rafters, underpurlins, ceiling joists, roof beams, wall studs, lintels and posts. The design must be conducted to the Australian Standards. Literature review and the use of the latest scientific findings in the areas of engineered wood products will be required to complete the optimisation part.
Multiple individual consultations will be made available through MyLO announcements to assist with project completion and to allow for timely feedback. Attendance of at least one consultation per project is mandatory.

| | Assessment Task 2: Design and Optimisation of a Timber Structure - PART 2 | Task Description: |
This project is a continuation of PART 1. In PART 2, you will be required to design and optimise the members of a residential timber structure and their connections, nominally the floor and decking framing including floorboards, joists, bearers, posts, studs subject to point loads, ledgers, decking joists and bearers and external posts. The design must be conducted to the Australian Standards. Literature review and the use of the latest scientific findings in the areas of engineered wood products will be required to complete the optimisation part. Multiple individual consultations will be made available through MyLO announcements to assist with project completion and to allow for timely feedback.
