What is the Unit About?
Unit Description
This unit integrates the development of personal and professional leadership attributes and approaches through submission of portfolio exemplars. Students will demonstrate their leadership capabilities which include the application of self-awareness, personal and organisational values which expand personal spheres of influence and relational skills that have contributed to building and sustaining collaborative practices and engendering leadership in others.
Intended Learning Outcomes
As per the Assessment and Results Policy 1.3, your results will reflect your achievement against specified learning outcomes.
On completion of this unit, you will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate leadership attributes that include the application of self-awareness, personal and organisational values
2.
Reflect upon own learning and identify achievable goals for further development
3.
Demonstrate insight into the ways spheres of influence builds and sustains collaborative/innovative ways of working
4.
Present a portfolio of learning that includes evidence of inclusive practices, enabling of others evaluation of learning and future directions

Assessment Task 1: Reflective Essay
Task Description:
Integral to the production of a portfolio is the process of reflection. The reflective essay plays an especially important role as evidence of your having met the comprehensive outcomes of the course as well as your professional development as a leader.

You are to write a reflective essay that will help bring all the experiences throughout the postgraduate program together in an engaging way.

Assessment Task 2: Presentation and Self Evaluation
Task Description:
You will be allocated to a group to present aspects of your e-portfolio and to receive feedback from other students and the assessors about your Portfolio.

You are required to write a self-evaluation after the completion of the presentation incorporating your response to the feedback received during the presentation.

15 minutes presentation and 250 word self-evaluation

Assessment Task 3: Portfolio
Task Description:
The capstone portfolio is both meaningful and comprehensive and provides an opportunity to showcase your accomplishments. The aim of this assessment is by the end of this study period to develop your skills in creating a web-based portfolio that may be used for publication (if you choose), sharing with others for career development, job applications or as a repository for your artefacts, i.e. resume, certificates etc.

You will be required to submit sections of your Portfolio in: Weeks - 3, 5, 7 and 13.

How your final result is determined
To pass this unit, you need to demonstrate your attainment of each of the Intended Learning Outcomes and achieve a final unit grade of 50% or greater.
Submission of assignments
Where practicable, assignments should be submitted to an assignment submission folder in MYLO. You must submit assignments by the due date or receive a penalty (unless an extension of time has been approved by the Unit Coordinator). Students submitting any assignment in hard copy, or because of a practicum finalisation, must attach a student cover sheet and signed declaration for the submission to be accepted for marking.

Requests for extensions
If you are unable to submit an assessment task by the due date, you should apply for an extension.
 
A request for an extension should first be discussed with your Unit Coordinator or teaching support team where possible. A request for an extension must be submitted by the assessment due date, except where you can provide evidence it was not possible to do so. Typically, an application for an extension will be supported by documentary evidence: however, where it is not possible for you to provide evidence please contact your Unit Coordinator.
 
The Unit Coordinator must notify you of the outcome of an extension request within 3 working days of receiving the request.
Late penalties
Assignments submitted after the deadline will receive a late penalty of 5% of the original available mark for each calendar day (or part day) that the assignment is late. Late submissions will not be accepted more than 10 calendar days after the due date, or after assignments have been returned to other students on a scheduled date, whichever occurs first. Review of results and appeals
You are entitled to ask for a review of the marking and grading of your assessment task if there is an irregularity in the marking standards or an error in the process for determining the outcome of an assessment.
