Attendance/Engagement Expectations
It is expected that you will attend all on-campus and onsite learning activities. This is to support your own learning and the development of a learning community within the unit.
If you miss a learning activity for a legitimate reason (e.g., illness, family commitments) teaching staff will attempt to provide alternative activities (e.g., make up readings) where it is possible.
If you are unable to attend regularly, please discuss the situation with your course coordinator and/or our UConnect support team.
Unit requirements for PEP
(see full details via the Unit Outline Essential Information link in the Essential Information module in MyLO)
To be eligible to enter the professional experience placement environment you must successfully complete the following compulsory pre-placement assessment requirements:
1. Pre-PEP hurdle assessment
2. Attendance at all intensives for NUR135
In the interests of both personal and public safety, as a registered nursing student with Ahpra you have a professional responsibility and duty as part of your regulatory obligations to ensure the provision of safe and effective nursing care to the public. Therefore, your attendance at intensives is required and non-attendance will result in the cancellation of PEP and a delay in course completion. Attendance will be recorded.
You must undertake 80 hours of professional experience placement. In the event that PEP hours cannot be completed prior to the finalisation of results, subject to academic progression, students will receive an AO (Assessment Ongoing) result for their PEP unit.
In order to proceed into your Professional Experience Placement, you will be required to undertake a compulsory pre-placement hurdle activity. This activity assesses selected nursing skills to allow you to demonstrate that you have maintained your capability to safely and effectively undertake these skills. Further details on this activity are included on the MyLO site.
You will be provided with the opportunity outside of scheduled classes for NUR135 to undertake this activity. You must have successfully completed this hurdle at least two weeks prior to your allocated PEP.
Failure to successfully complete the activity within three (3) attempts will result in your placement being cancelled and a fail grade for this unit.
